Six Sentence Sunday Feb 20

This week, some more from Darkness at Dawn. I might be brave enough next week to share something from my current WIP. We’ll see. This is from later in the story, where they meet again:

After a moment, he said, “If you promise not to attack me, I promise not to shoot you.” A promise from a nasty couldn’t mean anything, but still, he wanted to trust her.

She smiled. Whatever other weapons she might have, he thought that smile was her most dangerous. “If you promise not to shoot me, I promise not to attack you.”

His lip twitched, wanting to smile.

  1. Hi Devin. This is my first time hitting your Sunday Six. Loved your excerpt. Dangerous smiles can be the most disarming weapon of all. Love their banter and his uneasy grin.

Can you tell me what subgenre this story falls in? I’m intrigued!

  2. @Laurie A. Green — it’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi with monsters. 🙂 My Hollywood pitch would be “Romeo and Juliet meets Resident Evil”.

  3. Vibe, serious vibe, and I can’t figure out where it’s coming from, but these two have chemistry. This one jumps the page-to-brain barrier as if it weren’t even there.
